Baseball Recap: Kearney Comes Up Short

Kearney lost against Millard North back in April of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Bearcats fell just short of the Mustangs by a score of 6-5. That's two games in a row now that the Bearcats have lost by just one run.

Griffin Novacek made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs while going 2-for-4. Devin Carrell was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Kearney's loss was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Millard North, the win was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 9-1.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Kearney will face off against rival Lincoln Northeast at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Bearcats 3.6, the Rockets 3.3) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Millard North is set to challenge their familiar foe Bellevue West at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
