After a string of seven wins, Jay's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They took a 51-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of the McCollum Cowboys. Sadly, that's the third time they've come up short against the Mustangs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 62-60 back in November of 2024.

Jay lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Ny'Ashia Barnes, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 boards. Barnes has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Mikayla Garcia was another key player, going 5 for 12 on her way to 14 points and five rebounds.

Even though they lost, Jay smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 16 offensive rebounds in four consecutive contests.

Jay's loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 19-8. As for McCollum, their victory was their 18th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 24-3.

Jay will host Southwest at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Jay is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.7 points per game this season. As for McCollum, they will venture away from home to challenge Non Varsity Opponent at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
