Football Recap: Cienega Falls to Buena in First Game of Season + How To Watch

Cienega unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They took a 38-31 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Buena Colts on Friday. The Bobcats were not able to make up for their loss to the Colts from their previous meeting back in November of 2024.

Cienega lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Julian Hainley, who threw for 255 yards and four TDs. Cienega's leading receiver Jaden Rodgers was Hainley's top target yet again, picking up 151 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

Even if they lost, Cienega's defensive line still kept up the pressure with four sacks. Oliver Bonilla was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two himself.

Ricardo Brooks was a one-man wrecking crew For Buena. as he rushed for 143 yards and three touchdowns on only ten carries, and also picked up 31 receiving yards. Brooks got the majority of those rushing yards when he took off on a run that went for an incredible 85 yards.

Coming up, Cienega will face off against Desert Edge at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Buena, they will take on Skyline at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
