Baseball Preview: Cuba Wildcats vs. Sullivan Eagles
Cuba is 0-4 against Sullivan since April of 2018 but things could change on Tuesday. The Wildcats will head out on the road to challenge the Eagles at 4:30 p.m.
It was a proper cat-fight when Cuba faced off against Belle on Monday. The Wildcats fell just short of the Tigers by a score of 6-5.
Braden Gipson was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off ten hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-6 with two runs.
In other batting news, Wyatt McMillian was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-5 with three RBI and one double.
Meanwhile, Sullivan never let their opponents score on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 15-0 margin over St. James. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Tigers recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.
