Football Game Preview: San Augustine Wolves vs. Timpson Bears

The San Augustine Wolves will head out on the road to square off against the Timpson Bears at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (San Augustine has six straight wins, Timpson has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

San Augustine's defense heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They breezed past Hemphill to the tune of 49-0. That looming 49-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Wolves yet this season.

San Augustine's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ti'Javian Burrell led the charge by rushing for eight yards and one touchdown, while also throwing for 28 yards and one TD.

Special teams also deserves some recognition, posting 13 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Jamarion Davis, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.

Meanwhile, Timpson lost to Garrison on the road by a 30-14 margin on Friday.

San Augustine's victory bumped their record up to 7-2. As for Timpson, their loss dropped their record down to 3-6.

San Augustine was taken down by Timpson 40-10 in their previous matchup back in November of 2024. Can the Wolves avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
