Preview: Tampa Prep Terrapins vs. Cypress Creek Coyotes
Tampa Prep has enjoyed a four-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They just played last night, but they'll still head out to face the Cypress Creek Coyotes at 7:30 p.m. on January 19th. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard on Friday.
Tampa Prep put the finishing touches on their tenth blowout victory of the season on Thursday. They blew past Bishop McLaughlin Catholic 58-37. Given Tampa Prep's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 107th, while Bishop McLaughlin Catholic is ranked 660th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Tampa Prep got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Christian Fuller out in front who scored 13 points along with five assists and five steals. Chandler White Brooks was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with three steals.
Cypress Creek posted their biggest win yet this season on Wednesday. They blew past Pasco 59-22 on the road.
Tampa Prep's win was their 24th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-2. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 23.13 points. As for Cypress Creek, their victory bumped their record up to 8-9.
Everything came up roses for Tampa Prep against Cypress Creek when the teams last played back in November of 2023 as the squad secured a 73-33 win. With Tampa Prep ahead 52-23 at the half, the game was all but over already.
