Basketball Recap: Tuesday's Victory Is Oakley's Third in Last Four Outings

If Decatur Community wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Oakley, they should've done a better job of containing Mason Jackson. The Oakley Plainsmen came out on top against the Decatur Community Red Devils by a score of 53-46 on Tuesday thanks in part to Jackson, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 16 boards. Those 16 rebounds gave him a new career-high.

Decatur Community lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Tyler Ostmeyer, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 13 rebounds. With that strong performance, Ostmeyer is now averaging an impressive 2.2 blocks per game. Another player making a difference was Gage Williby, who posted 17 points in addition to five boards and four steals.

Oakley is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 3-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.5 points per game. As for Decatur Community, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-4.

Oakley wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 50-43 defeat against Plainville on the 10th. As for Decatur Community, they will host Northern Valley at 7:30 p.m. on January 14th.
