Baseball Recap: Francis Lewis Now 8-1 over Last Nine Games

Francis Lewis came out on top against John Adams on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive 11-run third inning. The Patriots were the clear victors by an 18-7 margin over the Spartans. Considering the Patriots have won seven games by more than seven runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Michael Alba looked comfortable as he pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Derek Young was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Nathan Pichardo, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI and two runs.

Francis Lewis kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 4 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 8.8.

Francis Lewis has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.6 runs on average over those games. As for John Adams, their loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-7.

Looking ahead, Francis Lewis will challenge Beacon at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for John Adams, they will square off against Scholars Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
