Basketball Recap: Jt Falzone's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Centaurus over Monarch

Centaurus suffered their closest defeat since January 14th on Friday. They fell just short of the Monarch Coyotes by a score of 54-51. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 142nd, while the Coyotes are ranked 42nd).

Centaurus lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Jt Falzone, who posted 17 points. That's the most points he has posted since back in December of 2024. Finn Glaser was another key player, putting up seven points and four steals.

Logan Laverty was his usual excellent self, going 8-for-20 en route to 28 points and five steals for Monarch. That makes it three consecutive games in which Laverty has scored at least a third of Monarch's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Riley Montemayor, who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and nine rebounds.

Centaurus has traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-14 record this season. Monarch has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-9 record this season.

As of now, neither Centaurus nor Monarch have any future games scheduled.
