Softball Recap: Decatur Eagles vs. Springtown Porcupines
Decatur gave up the first runs on Saturday, but they didn't let that get them down. They walked away with a 12-7 victory over the Springtown Porcupines. For the Eagles, this counts as revenge for the 7-5 win the Porcupines walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

Alexa Beeson was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She tossed five innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring four runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4. Those four runs gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Abby Steele was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. What's more, she posted two doubles, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. Annabel G?mez also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Decatur kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Springtown only managed nine hits.
Decatur's victory bumped their record up to 9-4. As for Springtown, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-6.
We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Decatur will face off against rival Burkburnett at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Springtown is set to challenge their familiar foe Eagle Mountain at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
