Lathrop had lost three games straight , but after bumping their record up to 3-8 on Thursday that streak is in the rearview. They walked away with a 9-4 victory over the Monroe Catholic Rams. That's more bragging rights for the Malemutes, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.
Lathrop got a big performance out of Kaylee Himes, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. That triple was Himes' first of the season. Another player making a difference was Abbie Evans, who got on base in both of her plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.
As for Monroe Catholic, they now have a losing record of 1-2. They have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
On Monroe Catholic's side, they saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Anya Chernich, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Emma Born was another, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI.
Looking ahead, Lathrop will head out on the road to face off against Delta at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Monroe Catholic will be paying especially close attention to the Malemutes' matchup: after the Malemutes face off against the Huskies, they'll take on Monroe Catholic again at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
