Softball Recap: Southmont Comes Up Short

Western Boone hit Southmont with a six-run fifth inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Mounties took a 7-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Stars. The Mounties have struggled against the Stars recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost meeting.

Southmont saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mallory Mason, who went 2-for-3 with two runs.

Southmont's defeat dropped their record down to 14-8. As for Western Boone, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 17-5.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Stars beat Southmont by a score of 12-8 later that day.
