Football Recap: Dougherty Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Dougherty extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping them down to 2-7. They lost 40-20 to the Westover Patriots. If the Trojans were looking for revenge after losing 35-0 to the Patriots when the teams met back in October of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

David Burgess threw for 111 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Zeterria Kegler was his top target, picking up 38 receiving yards and one score. On the ground, Daishon Malone rushed for 58 yards.

As for Westover, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 33.6 points over those games.

Westover found their leader in sophomore Jordan Lassiter, who picked up a sack and made ten total tackles (1.5 for loss).

Dougherty has already played their next contest, a 28-21 defeat against Bainbridge on the 31st. As for Westover, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 22-14 loss against Cairo on the 31st.
