Recap: Waldron Mohawks vs. Southwestern Spartans
The Waldron Mohawks had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They strolled past Southwestern with points to spare, taking the game 57-40. That 57-40 margin sets a new team best for Waldron this season.
Waldron's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Parker Douglas, who scored 17 points along with five rebounds. Those five rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Lucas Shaw, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds and six assists.
The victory got Waldron back to even at 3-3. As for Southwestern, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-5.
After both having extra time off, Waldron and Herron will dust off their jerseys to square off against one another at 11:00 a.m. on December 28th. Herron is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. Southwestern will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Morristown at 7:30 p.m. on January 5, 2024.
