Softball Recap: Saline Makes It Four in a Row on the Road

Saline had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 16-run drubbing they dealt Dexter on Monday. The Hornets were the clear victors by a 16-0 margin over the Dreadnaughts. Considering the Hornets have won five matchups by more than six runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Zosia Mazur and Abby Curtis were major factors no matter where they played. On the mound, Mazur tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Curtis struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. At the plate, Mazur went 1-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base, while Curtis went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

In other batting news, Sydney Hastings was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Reese Rupert, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.

Saline's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-2. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games. As for Dexter, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-3.

Looking ahead, Saline will challenge Chelsea at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Dexter, they will take on Pioneer at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
