Volleyball Recap: Springville Falls Short Against Ranked Cedar Valley

Springville faced Cedar Valley in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. Springville fell 3-1 to Cedar Valley. The Red Devils' loss continues a trend for the squad, making it six in a row.

While Springville ultimately came up short, they really made Cedar Valley work, particularly in the second set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-21, 26-24, 23-25, 25-15.

Marshall Patterson paced Springville's offense, picking up 12 kills. Patterson got some help from Reis Brothers and his 32 assists. Finally, Nephi Spendlove kept Springville's defense grounded, leading the team with three blocks.

Springville now has a losing record of 5-6. As for Cedar Valley, they pushed their record up to 7-6 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Coming up, Springville will take on Maple Mountain at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Maple Mountain will roll in looking for their 12th straight victory, something Springville surely won't give up without a fight. As for Cedar Valley, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 3-0 defeat against Wasatch on the 26th.
