Volleyball Recap: El Capitan Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

El Capitan and San Pasqual squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but El Capitan had to settle for second. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Golden Eagles. The Vaqueros' defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

While El Capitan ultimately came up short, they really made San Pasqual work, particularly in the fourth set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-16, 25-22, 24-26, 26-24.

Jacob Marquez paced El Capitan's offense, picking up 20 kills. Marquez got some help from Neil Perkins and his 18 assists. Perkins was also solid from the service line: he led the team with two aces.

El Capitan's loss dropped their record down to 22-14. As for San Pasqual, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-7 record this season.

El Capitan does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for San Pasqual, they will challenge Fallbrook at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
