Rylann Macknight spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and one unearned) runs on eight hits.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Kyla Queen, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and three runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Josie Shobe, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, Fort Frye fell victim to Frontier and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They fell just short of the Cougars by a score of 1-0. Having soared to a lofty 14 runs in the game before, the Cadets' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.
Fort Frye also let their pitcher toss all nine innings and she was also dialed-in: Elle Casto gave up only one earned run on seven hits and racked up seven Ks.
At the plate, Fort Frye saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Carmen Henniger, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base. Henniger has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Ella Dowler also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Point Pleasant pushed their record up to 9-5 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Fort Frye, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-5.
