Softball Recap: Colleton Prep Academy Has No Trouble Against Andrew Jackson Academy

Colleton Prep Academy won the last time they faced Andrew Jackson Academy and things went their way on Wednesday too. The War Hawks were the clear victors by a 13-1 margin over the Warriors. Considering the War Hawks' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Elena Mathis and Sydney Stivender made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Mathis struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and not a single walk). Meanwhile, Stivender tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Mathis has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. At bat, Mathis scored a run while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances, while Stivender got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave Stivender a new career-high.

In other batting news, Ava Murray was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while going 1-for-3. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Addison Crosby, who scored a run while going 3-for-3.

Colleton Prep Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .556. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Andrew Jackson Academy only posted an OBP of .200.

Colleton Prep Academy's record now sits at 3-9. As for Andrew Jackson Academy, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Colleton Prep Academy will venture away from home to take on St. John's Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Andrew Jackson Academy, they will head out to face off against Orangeburg Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The Patriots have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 15.25 runs per game on average), something the Warriors will no doubt try to take advantage of.
