Softball Recap: La Costa Canyon Comes Up Short

Wednesday just wasn't the day for La Costa Canyon's offense. They fell 5-0 to the Carlsbad Lancers on Wednesday. If the Mavericks were looking for revenge after losing 5-4 to the Lancers when the teams met back in May of 2025, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Addie Brown spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned runs on seven hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, La Costa Canyon saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gracie Camacho, who went 1-for-3 with one double.

La Costa Canyon has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-9 record this season. As for Carlsbad, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 15-1.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. La Costa Canyon is set to square off against their familiar foe Sage Creek at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Carlsbad will challenge rival Rancho Buena Vista at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Lancers 2.4, the Longhorns 2.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.
