Softball Recap: Littlefield Takes a Loss

Littlefield had lost three straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 18-8 to make it four. They fell just short of the Slaton Tigers by a score of 4-2. Having soared to a lofty 18 runs in the game before, the Wildcats couldn't push the score so high this time.

Littlefield saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Amaya Mccannick, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

As for Slaton, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 17-10 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games.

On Slaton's side, Isabella Guzman spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Adri Gonzales, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Burkelynn Lamberson, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Littlefield does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Slaton, they will face off against Trinity Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Lions have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.05 runs per game on average), something the Tigers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
