Baseball Game Preview: Pike Red Devils vs. Daleville Broncos

The Pike Red Devils are taking a road trip to take on the Daleville Broncos at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Pike is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.

Things were looking good for Pike after they put the first run on the board on Wednesday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They came up short against North Central, falling 9-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Red Devils have suffered since April 13, 2024.

Lincoln Sigmund made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in two of his four plate appearances with four stolen bases and two runs. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Chaelor Freeman, Jr., who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one double.

Frankton hit Daleville with a six-run third inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Broncos took a 9-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Eagles. That's two games in a row now that the Broncos have lost by exactly three runs.

Bryson Sigler was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Austin Kerr, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Daleville has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-6 record this season. As for Pike, their loss dropped their record down to 6-6.
