Softball Recap: Straughn Has No Trouble Against New Brockton

Straughn won the last time they faced New Brockton and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Tigers put the hurt on the Gamecocks with a sharp 14-3 win. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 4, 2024, but that streak is no more.

Julia Harold was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over six innings pitched. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one triple.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Adalyn Till, who went 4-for-5 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Sophie Pettus was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.

Straughn now has a winning record of 15-14. As for New Brockton, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-20 record this season.

Straughn will head out on the road to take on Excel at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for New Brockton, they will welcome Goshen at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Gamecocks are facing the Eagles at the right time seeing as the Eagles are stuck on a six-game losing streak.
