Baseball Game Preview: Gulf Pointe Latin Gladiators vs. West Florida Baptist Academy Conquerors

Gulf Pointe Latin is 0-7 against West Florida Baptist Academy since March of 2022 but things could change on Friday. The Gladiators will square off against the Conquerors at 4:00 p.m. Gulf Pointe Latin has given up an average of 14.8 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Gulf Pointe Latin is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 14-12 victory over East Hill Christian on Thursday. The game was the first time the Gladiators have beaten the Eagles on their field since April 26, 2022.

The team relied heavily on Gabriel Biagini, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with four stolen bases and three runs. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Silas Fanberg also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Meanwhile, West Florida Baptist Academy made easy work of East Hill Christian last Thursday and carried off a 16-4 win. The victory continues a trend for the Conquerors in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won six in a row.

Gulf Pointe Latin's win ended a 13-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-11. As for West Florida Baptist Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 8-10.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Gulf Pointe Latin has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like West Florida Baptist Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.5 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
