Baseball Recap: Okeechobee Falls Short of Varela in the Playoffs

Okeechobee and Varela squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Okeechobee had to settle for second. They took a 9-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Vipers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Vipers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 on Wednesday.

Parker Shoup was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with two doubles and one RBI. Ian Liscomb was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs.

This is the second loss in a row for Okeechobee and nudges their season record down to 13-13. As for Varela, they pushed their record up to 18-7-2 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road.

Okeechobee does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Varela, they will square off against Archbishop McCarthy at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Vipers will need to watch out since the Mavericks have now posted at least ten runs in their last five games.
