Softball Preview: Reynolds Raiders vs. Gresham Gophers

The Reynolds Raiders will stay at home for another game and welcome the Gresham Gophers at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.

Things were looking good for Reynolds after they put the first points on the board on Monday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. Their tough 15-1 loss to Barlow might stick with them for a while. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Reynolds in their matchups with Barlow: they've now lost three in a row.

Reynolds saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aubs Clement, who scored a run while going 1-for-2. Clement has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive pitching appearances.

Meanwhile, Gresham waltzed into their game on Wednesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-6 win over Nelson.

Maddy Sagapolutele was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched five innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. Sagapolutele was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4.

In other batting news, Gresham let Ally Downing and Melinda Herrejon loose on the outfield. Downing scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances, while Herrejon scored a run while going 3-for-3. Nayeli Ramirez was another key contributor, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

Reynolds' loss dropped their record down to 1-15. As for Gresham, the victory got them back to even at 9-9.
