Basketball Recap: Jacoby Davis' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Land O' Lakes over Mitchell

Land O' Lakes was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They lost to the Mitchell Mustangs on the road by a 72-58 margin. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Mustangs this season, with their most recent defeat being a 73-52 loss last Thursday.

Land O' Lakes' defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jacoby Davis, who posted 12 points and four steals. The dominant performance gave Davis a new career-high in steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Mikaili Coli, who went 5-for-6 on his way to 14 points.

Mitchell got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Fillipe Frangie out in front who dropped a double-double with 12 points and 11 boards. Frangie has become a key player for Mitchell: the team is 11-5 when he posts at least eight rebounds, but 4-6 otherwise. Anthony Morris was another key player, dropping a double-double with 16 points and 11 boards.

Land O' Lakes' loss dropped their record down to 9-16. As for Mitchell, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 15-11.

Land O' Lakes does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Mitchell, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 71-53 defeat against Wiregrass Ranch on the 5th.
