Baseball Recap: Bluejacket Sets Scoring Season-High Against Foyil

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Bluejacket). They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 15-13 win over the Foyil Panthers on Friday. With that victory, the Chieftains brought their scoring average up to 6.6 runs per game.

Colton Cochran made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing four bases while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in doubles (two).

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ethen Beisly, who scored four runs and stole four bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in hits (two). Another player making a difference was Lane Ferdig, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3.

With the win, Bluejacket broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 7-4. As for Foyil, they are on a ten-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-12.

Looking ahead, Bluejacket is taking a road trip to take on Afton at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Bluejacket is facing Afton at the right time seeing as Afton is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Foyil, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Chelsea at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
