Softball Recap: Cayuga Takes a Loss

Cayuga was the 9-7 winner over Chester when they last played one another back in March of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Cayuga Wildcats took an 8-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Chester Yellowjackets on Saturday. The Wildcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Katy Harding made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole Three bases. while going 1-for-2. Another player making a difference was Ella Lightfoot, who scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 1-for-1.

Even though they lost, Cayuga was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .467. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Chester only posted a batting average of .286.

Cayuga's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Chester, their record is now 3-4.

Coming up, Cayuga will take on LaPoynor at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. LaPoynor will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something Cayuga surely won't give up without a fight. As for Chester, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next match, a 16-5 victory against Colmesneil on the 3rd.
