Recap: JAG Jaguars vs. Pinson Valley Indians
After a string of four wins, the JAG Jaguars's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They took a 70-59 hit to the loss column at the hands of Pinson Valley. JAG has not had much luck with Pinson Valley recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
JAG's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of JaMicah Adair, who scored 21 points, and Ladarius Givan who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 rebounds. Adair is absolutely dominating the point category: he's posted at least 15 every time he's taken the court this season. Cedrickus Williams was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
JAG struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Pinson Valley racked up 15 assists.
Clyde Walters was his usual excellent self, scoring 27 points along with seven rebounds and five assists for Pinson Valley. The team also got some help courtesy of Austin Coner, who scored 13 points along with seven assists and five rebounds.
JAG's loss dropped their record down to 19-2. As for Pinson Valley, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 14-8.
JAG will be playing in front of their home fans against Pike Road at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Pike Road will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Alabama Rankings (they are ranked 211th, while JAG is ranked 14th). As for Pinson Valley, they will head out on the road to square off against Fairfield at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Fairfield knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past ten games -- so hopefully Pinson Valley likes a good challenge.
