Baseball Game Preview: Holcomb Hornets vs. Caruthersville Tigers

The Holcomb Hornets will challenge the Caruthersville Tigers at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Holcomb's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last four matches.

20 must be Holcomb's lucky number: they beat Richland with that score not once but twice on Tuesday. The Hornets beat the Rebels by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 20-3. Considering the Hornets have won six contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, Caruthersville has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging four runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Wednesday. They lost 10-0 to Senath-Hornersville. Considering the last time the Tigers couldn't score was back in March, the team can't take the result too hard.

Holcomb's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-7. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Caruthersville, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-7.
