Basketball Recap: Lanesboro Comes Up Short

Lanesboro came up into this matchup off a tough 36-point loss last Thursday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the Mabel-Canton Cougars by a score of 48-46 on Monday. The Burros were not able to make up for their defeat to the Cougars from their previous meeting back in February of 2024.

Mabel-Canton's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Darian Hershberger led the charge by putting up 17 points and eight boards. Tyler Larson was another key player, dropping a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds.

Lanesboro's loss dropped their record down to 11-11. As for Mabel-Canton, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-11 record this season.

Lanesboro has already played their next contest (against Spring Grove), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Mabel-Canton will be playing at home against Houston at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Houston's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three games.
