Basketball Recap: Appling Christian Academy's Run of Three Straight Victories Now Over

If Appling Christian Academy was riding high fresh off their 66-37 takedown of First Academy last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Eagles fell 88-78 to the Southside Christian Patriots on Tuesday. The Eagles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Patriots apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2018.

Despite the loss, Appling Christian Academy still got an impressive performance from Jaden Drake, who dropped a double-double with 33 points and 11 boards. Drake has been hot, having posted eight or more rebounds the last seven times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Xzayvier Anderson, who shot 41% from the field en route to 21 points.

With the loss, Appling Christian Academy broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 5-5. As for Southside Christian, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 4-1.

Coming up, after both having extra time off, Appling Christian Academy and Heritage Christian Academy will shake off the rust and duke it out at 6:00 p.m. on January 6, 2026. As for Southside Christian, they will take on Savannah Athletic Association in a tournament on Friday. The Patriots will be up against the Jaguars' rather soft defense (which has allowed 58.08 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
