Basketball Recap: Oliver Barnes' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Andrew Jackson Academy over Bethune-Bowman

Andrew Jackson Academy lost against Bethune-Bowman back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Andrew Jackson Academy Warriors came up short against the Bethune-Bowman Mohawks, falling 71-46. The match marked the Warriors' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Andrew Jackson Academy lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Oliver Barnes, who went 5 for 12 on his way to 22 points. That's the most points Barnes has posted since back in December of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Vashahd Schofield, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 boards.

Even though they lost, Andrew Jackson Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in four consecutive contests.

Andrew Jackson Academy's loss dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Bethune-Bowman, their win was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-3.

Andrew Jackson Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 97-73 victory against Dorchester Academy on the 10th. As for Bethune-Bowman, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 66-41 win against New Hope Leadership Academy on the 11th.
