Baseball Game Preview: Mary Star of the Sea Stars vs. Linfield Christian Lions

The Mary Star of the Sea Stars will take on the Linfield Christian Lions at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

The home team had come away the winner the last four times Mary Star of the Sea and Cabrillo had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. Mary Star of the Sea came out on top against Cabrillo by a score of 5-2 on Thursday. The victory continues a trend for the Stars in their matchups with the Jaguars: they've now won seven in a row.

Richard Bautista and Daniel Avila did most of the damage at the plate: Bautista scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3, while Avila went 3-for-4 with one double and one RBI. The dominant performance also gave Bautista a new career-high in RBI (two).

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Linfield Christian, who bounced back after a loss on the road two weeks ago. They won by a run and slipped past Woodcrest Christian 4-3.

Linfield Christian's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-1-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Mary Star of the Sea, the victory got them back to even at 5-5-1.
