Volleyball Game Preview: Winter Haven Blue Devils vs. Plant Panthers

Winter Haven is 0-4 against Plant since October of 2015 but things could change on Wednesday. The Blue Devils will venture away from home to square off against the Panthers at 7:00 p.m. Winter Haven is coming into the contest hot, having won their last eight games.

Winter Haven is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They had just enough and edged out Newsome 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Blue Devils have posted since September 12th.

Winter Haven wouldn't go down easily and took Newsome into a fifth set where they got it done with a nine-point win. The match finished with set scores of 26-24, 23-25, 24-26, 25-22, 15-6.

Camila DeJesus had a dynamite game, getting 27 digs and six assists. She has been hot recently, having posted 23 or more digs the last three times she's played.

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Plant and Venice, and Plant kept the tradition alive. The Panthers were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Indians on Saturday. The win continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Indians: they've now won three in a row.

Plant was especially dominant in the first set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-15, 25-17, 25-21.

Winter Haven's record now sits at 24-5. As for Plant, their record is now 17-8.

Winter Haven couldn't quite get it done against Plant when the teams last played back in September of 2021 as they fell 2-0. Can the Blue Devils avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
