Baseball Recap: Westfield's Losing Streak Snapped at Five Games

The scorekeeper got an easy start on Saturday as neither Westfield nor Middlesex made it on the board until the fifth inning. The Blue Devils' pitchers stepped up to hand the Bluejays a 2-0 shutout. The win was some much needed relief for the Blue Devils as it spelled an end to their five-game losing streak.

Westfield got a great performance from Ian Dickey as he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over six innings pitched. Dickey also allowed no hits, which is notable because the Blue Devils are undefeated when he allows at most three hits, but 5-8 otherwise.

At the plate, Westfield's victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Anthony Narciso, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI. That RBI marked the first that Narciso has brought in this season.

The win got Westfield back to even at 8-8. As for Middlesex, they moved to 19-2 with that defeat, which also ended their 11-game winning streak.

Coming up, Westfield will square off against Union Catholic at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Middlesex, they will challenge St. Joseph at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
