Basketball Recap: Village Tech Continues Road Dominance on Saturday

Village Tech had won five straight road games and Isaiah Thomas did his part to make it six on Saturday. The Village Tech Viper Squid walked away with a 48-41 victory over the Stephenville Yellow Jackets/Honeybees thanks in part to Thomas, who went 8 of 14 on his way to 19 points and seven rebounds. The matchup was his third in a row with at least ten points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Bryson Gaines, who posted five points and 13 rebounds. Those 13 rebounds gave him a new career-high.

Village Tech is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-3 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.4 points per game. As for Stephenville, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-4.

Village Tech and Stephenville should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. Village Tech (ranked 297th) will meet Life Oak Cliff (ranked 855th) at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Village Tech is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 59.6 points per game this season. Meanwhile, Stephenville (ranked 222nd) will meet Lake Worth (ranked 614th) at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
