Football Game Preview: Henrietta Bearcats vs. Clifton Cubs

The Henrietta Bearcats will take on the Clifton Cubs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

If Clifton heads into halftime all tied up, they better play a good second half: that's when Henrietta took over last week. The Bearcats enjoyed a cozy 27-8 victory over Millsap on Friday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bearcats.

Henrietta found their leader in sophomore Cruse Coleman, who rushed for 155 yards and four touchdowns. Cooper Coleman did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 94 receiving yards.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Henrietta proved: they limited Millsap to a paltry three yards per carry. The team can thank Gage McDonald for the heroic effort on defense: he. Henrietta's ground attack was stronger, having averaged 4.7.

Henrietta didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Cooper Gee and Reece Byerly. Henrietta got some further help from McDonald: he picked up a sack and made ten total tackles (2.0 for loss).

Meanwhile, Clifton posted their closest win since October 18, 2024 on Friday. They won a matchup that couldn't have been any closer, slipping by Brady 7-6.

Clifton's defense made their presence known, laying out Sean Jacoby three times. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Caden Sweat, Deacon Williams, and Ivan Galindo, who each picked up one sack apiece.

Henrietta's record is now 6-4. As for Clifton, their record now sits at 8-2.

Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. Henrietta has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 179.2 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Clifton struggles in that department as they've been averaging 165.5 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
