Volleyball Recap: Catalina Foothills Comes Up Short at Home Against Mica Mountain

Catalina Foothills unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They lost 3-0 to the Mica Mountain Thunderbolts on Thursday. The Falcons were not able to make up for their defeat to the Thunderbolts from their previous meeting back in August of 2024.

Catalina Foothills was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the second set very close. The final score came out to 25-13, 25-23, 25-20.

Mica Mountain was led to victory by ANNYCIA ARENAS and HANNAH SCHADE. ARENAS had nine digs and two aces, while SCHADE hit 72.2% for 13 kills and six digs, four aces, and one block. That's the most aces SCHADE has posted since back in November of 2024.

Mica Mountain's victory was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-0.

Catalina Foothills didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 2-0 win against Tanque Verde on the 30th. As for Mica Mountain, they have also already played their next game, a 3-0 victory against Marana on the 2nd.
