Softball Recap: Saturday's Victory Is Salem's 15th in Last 16 Outings

Salem owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Saturday. They put the hurt on the Greenville Comets with a sharp 8-0 victory. Considering the Wildcats have won ten matches by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Not much got past Reagan SHuler, who gave up just two hits to keep Greenville off the board.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Mya Russell, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Marah Johnson, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one double.

Salem always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .529. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Greenville only posted an OBP of .120.

Salem has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 15 of their last 16 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Greenville, their loss dropped their record down to 21-8-1.

Looking ahead, Salem will take on Marion at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Salem 2.8, Marion 2.7) so any runs scored will be well earned. Greenville does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
