Baseball Game Preview: Bucksport Golden Bucks vs. Dexter Tigers

The Bucksport Golden Bucks will face off against the Dexter Tigers at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Bucksport will be strutting in after a victory while Dexter will be coming in after a loss.

Bucksport came out on top against Orono on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run third inning. The Golden Bucks walked away with a 6-3 win over the Riots.

Ryan Winchester spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on five hits and racked up six Ks. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Bucksport is 4-2 when he allows at most two walks, but 3-4 otherwise.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Eli Bennett, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Peyton Gray, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

Meanwhile, Wednesday just wasn't the day for Dexter's offense. They came up short against Foxcroft Academy on Wednesday, falling 10-0. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, the Tigers' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Bucksport has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.6 runs over those games. As for Dexter, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-5.
