Soccer Game Preview: Montezuma-Cortez vs. Bayfield

The Montezuma-Cortez Panthers will challenge the Bayfield Wolverines at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Bayfield took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Montezuma-Cortez, who comes in off a win.

Montezuma-Cortez's defense heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Saturday. Everything went their way against Pagosa Springs as they made off with a 3-0 victory. Montezuma-Cortez might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by three goals or more this season.

Meanwhile, Bayfield was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They were a single goal away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of Pagosa Springs. The matchup was a 1-1 toss-up at halftime, but Bayfield couldn't quite close it out.

Montezuma-Cortez is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-1-2 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 17 goals over those five games. As for Bayfield, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-7.
