Pagosa Springs extends road winning streak to 11

Recap: Pagosa Springs Pirates vs. Mancos Bluejays

The Pagosa Springs Pirates took a 20-point loss the last time they faced off against the Mancos Bluejays, but they managed to turn things around on Tuesday. Pagosa Springs narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Mancos 33-30. The win made it back-to-back wins for Pagosa Springs.

Pagosa Springs' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Elizabeth Currier led the charge by scoring 11 points along with five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Annie O?Donnell, who scored three points along with eight rebounds and three steals.

Despite the defeat, Mancos had strong showings from Teya Yeomans, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 12 rebounds, and Claire Goodwin, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and five steals. Yeomans hasn't dropped below nine rebounds for three straight games.

Pagosa Springs pushed their record up to 15-4 with that victory, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Mancos, their loss dropped their record down to 10-5.

Pagosa Springs will be playing at home against Bayfield at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Pagosa Springs is facing Bayfield at the right time seeing as Bayfield is stuck on a eight-game losing streak. As for Mancos, they will head out on the road to square off against Ridgway at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Mancos focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Tuesday.
