Soccer Game Preview: Cumberland Gap vs. Cherokee

The Cumberland Gap Panthers will face off against the Cherokee Chiefs at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Cumberland Gap headed into their last matchup having not scored more than one goal for five straight, but Claiborne let them put that streak behind them. Cumberland Gap was the clear victor by an 8-1 margin over Claiborne on Thursday. The victory continues a trend for Cumberland Gap in their matchups with Claiborne: they've now won eight in a row.

Meanwhile, Cherokee put another one in the bag last Friday to keep their perfect season alive. Their defense stepped up to hand Campbell County a 4-0 shutout.

Cherokee pushed their record up to 4-0 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored ten goals over those three contests. As for Cumberland Gap, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-5.
