Springport let Bronson stack four runs on them in the fourth inning on Friday but luckily Springport prevailed anyway. The Spartans sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-5 victory over the Vikings. That's more bragging rights for the Spartans, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Drew Sanford made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits (and not a single walk). He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run. That home run was his first of the season.

In other batting news, Springport let Drew Kregel and Marshall Shoemaker run wild. Kregel went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and three RBI, while Shoemaker went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

The win made it two in a row for Springport and bumps their season record up to 8-2. As for Bronson, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Springport will face off against Athens at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Bronson, they will host Sturgis at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
