Baseball Game Preview: Start Spartans vs. Cardinal Stritch Cardinals

The Start Spartans will challenge the Cardinal Stritch Cardinals at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Start will be strutting in after a victory while Cardinal Stritch will be coming in after a loss.

Start will roll into the match after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one run on Friday, then bounced right back against Northwood on Saturday. The Spartans put the hurt on the Rangers with a sharp 13-1 win. The Spartans' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Joe Buck made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Buck was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brandon Scott, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Kolbe Roesner, who scored two runs.

Start hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Northwood struck out seven times.

Meanwhile, Cardinal Stritch was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They came up short against Woodmore, falling 16-5.

Cardinal Stritch's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Start, the victory got them back to even at 2-2-1.
