Basketball Preview: Cyprus Pirates vs. Granger Lancers
Cyprus has been on the road for two straight, but on Tuesday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Granger Lancers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Granger took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Cyprus, who comes in off a win.
Even though West Jordan scored an imposing 70 points on Tuesday, Cyprus still came out on top. Cyprus had just enough and edged the Jaguars out 72-70.
The match pitted two dominant guards against one another in Amelia Echternkamp and Giselle Muffet. Echternkamp had a great game and scored 25 points along with five assists and two steals. Meanwhile, Muffet was balling out in the loss, dropping a double-double on 33 points and ten rebounds.
Meanwhile, Granger's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their 16th straight defeat. They were dealt a 57-26 loss at the hands of West Jordan. Granger has not had much luck with the Jaguars recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Cyprus has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-7 record this season. As for Granger, they dropped their record down to 1-16 with that defeat, which was their tenth straight at home.
Everything came up roses for Cyprus against the Lancers in their previous meeting last Friday as the squad secured a 74-31 win. With Cyprus ahead 38-13 at the half, the match was all but over already.
