Softball Recap: Serrano Comes Up Short

If Serrano was feeling good fresh off their 10-0 takedown of Hesperia last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Diamondbacks took a 9-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Apple Valley Sun Devils on Thursday. The defeat continues a trend for the Diamondbacks in their meetings with the Sun Devils: they've now lost five in a row.

Aubrey Malone and Cody Ramirez stepped up to the plate in a big way. Malone went 3-for-4 with two RBI, while Ramirez scored two runs while going 3-for-4. Autumn Pratt was another key player, scoring a run while going 3-for-4.

Serrano's loss dropped their record down to 8-8. As for Apple Valley, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-4-1 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Serrano is set to challenge their familiar foe Sultana at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Apple Valley will square off against rival Hesperia at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
