Basketball Recap: Thomas County Central Comes Up Short

Thomas County Central was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were dealt a 51-19 loss at the hands of the Lee County Trojans. While losing is never fun, the Yellow Jackets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 224th, while the Trojans are ranked 58th).

Despite the defeat, Thomas County Central had strong showings from Nia Hayes, who posted nine points, and Jakayla Garland, who earned six points.

Lee County's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Camya Hutcherson, who went 6 for 12 en route to 17 points and six steals. Hutcherson is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last 11 games she's played. Bayyinah Citlak was another key player, going 6 of 7 on her way to 14 points and six steals.

Thomas County Central now has a losing record at 9-10. As for Lee County, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-6.

Thomas County Central didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 41-36 loss against Bainbridge on the 28th. Lee County has also already played their next contest, a 62-30 win against Houston County on the 28th.
